Image# B083 - Feedlot System
Today, the majority of cattle in Canada are raised to a finished market weight in specialized feedlots. In these open-air, or sheltered facilities, cattle are able to mingle and have free access to feed and water. The feedlot system produces a consistently uniform and high quality beef product for the consumer. Finishing rations of mostly grain and some forage are fed to cattle for approximately 100 days.
